Früzo Launches in Checkers Stores Nationwide

After successfully launching into Checkers KZN in 2019, the national buyer for Checkers noticed how well our products were doing in the KZN market and asked if we would consider giving Checkers exclusivity over the Früzo range on a national basis.

After initially launching Früzo in 2018, our delicious flash-frozen fruit could be found in select suppliers around KwaZulu-Natal. With there being a gap in the market for great quality, affordable flash-frozen fruit, we wanted to create a brand and quality product to fill consumers needs for this sort of produce.

An exciting milestone for the brand was being launched in Checkers stores in KwaZulu-Natal in 2019. This also marked the start of our nationwide rollout. “After successfully launching into Checkers KZN in 2019, the national buyer for Checkers noticed how well our products were doing in the KZN market and asked if we would consider giving Checkers exclusivity over the Früzo range on a national basis,” explains Blake Edy, one of the Directors at Früzo.

By March 2021 we had launched in Checkers stores in the Western Cape, by April 2021 we had launched in Gauteng stores, and by May 2021 we had launched in stores in the Free State and Eastern Cape. We originally launched with four products, which included our Mixed Berries, Blueberries, Strawberries and Tropical range. We are looking to add more fruits to our range in the near future.

Since launching in Checkers in KwaZulu-Natal, Früzo is now available in over 300 stores nationwide! We can also be found on the Checkers Sixty60 App for delivery in selected areas. We’re proud and excited to be able to provide South Africans with delicious, flash-frozen fruit that can be enjoyed as is, or used in a variety of different recipes.
